To ensure the competency, qualifications, and safety of our medical staff, we have implemented a comprehensive screening process.
Our process includes:
- Right to Work & Identity Checks
- Verify passport/visa.
- Ensure compliance with UK immigration laws.
- Qualification & Professional Registration
- Confirm qualifications from recognized institutions.
- Verify registration with the relevant regulatory body:
- Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) – for nurses & midwives
- General Medical Council (GMC) – for doctors
- Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) – for allied health professionals (physiotherapists, paramedics, etc.)
- Background Checks (DBS Check)
- Background Checks (DBS Check) (for criminal records) is required:
- Standard DBS – For roles that involve professional qualifications but limited patient contact
- Enhanced DBS – For those in direct patient care roles
- Enhanced DBS with Barred List Check – For positions involving vulnerable adults or children
- Background Checks (DBS Check) (for criminal records) is required:
- Occupational Health Screening
- Medical fitness assessment to ensure the candidate is fit for the role.
- Vaccination records (e.g., Hepatitis B, MMR, TB for healthcare workers)
- Employment History & References
- Minimum 3-5 years of work history checked
- Professional references, ideally from previous healthcare employers
- English Language Proficiency
- Required for overseas professionals (if applicable)
- Accepted tests: IELTS (International English Language Testing System) or OET (Occupational English Test)
- Skills & Competency Assessments
- It may include clinical skills tests, written exams, and scenario-based evaluations.
- Training & Induction
- Mandatory training: Basic Life Support (BLS), Safeguarding, Infection Control
- NHS or private employer-specific onboarding programs

Our Non-Medical Staff Screening Process
At Nurturenest UK, we take the safety and well-being of your family seriously. Every childminder we recommend undergoes a rigorous screening process to ensure they meet our high professional standards
Our Requirements
Each of our non-medical candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum of 3 years of professional childcare experience
- Legally eligible to work in the United Kingdom
- Possess a valid UK driving licence (if required for the role)
- Pediatric First Aid & CPR certified
- Provide a minimum of three childcare and personal references
- Attend an in-person interview with one of our placement coordinators
Comprehensive Background Checks
For your peace of mind, we conduct thorough background checks, including:
- Enhanced DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service – criminal record check)
- Driving record report (if applicable)
- Sex Offender Registry check
- Identity & Right to Work Verification
You will receive copies of all background checks before your candidate starts employment.
Screening & Vetting Process
Every candidate undergoes a detailed vetting process, which includes:
- Personal interview to assess experience, skills, and suitability
- National criminal background check (DBS)
- Driving record check (if required)
- Sex offender registry check
- Identity verification & Right to Work check
- Employment reference checks
- Personal reference checks
- Social security & financial history check (if applicable)
